    The Senior Data Modeler shall have a minimum of seven (7-10) years of experience and expertise with data modeling, including OLTP and OLAP systems. The position needs to work with the data architects and business users to translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models to meet the needs of the organization. Maintains metadata profiles in adherence to sound data modeling principles and standards for all data brought into the operational data store, enterprise data warehouse and Data Marts. Proficiency in data warehousing principles, relational database management systems, and logical and physical data models is a must. Demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge and experience using data integration tools and Structured Query language (SQL).

    Responsibilities

      • Work with business SMEs, Business Analysts and Technology teams to understand the data requirements and the full attribute set for entities and dimensions;
      • Convert business processes, domain specific knowledge, and information needs into a conceptual model;
      • Convert conceptual models into logical models with detailed descriptions of entities and dimensions;
      • Develop and maintain fully defined conceptual, logical and physical dimensional data models to ensure the information models are capable of meeting end user and developer needs
      • Develop data models and data migration strategies utilizing sound concepts of data modeling including star schema, snowflake schema, etc.
      • Model aggregation layers and specific star schemas as subject areas within a logical and physical model
      • Develop mapping documents from source to target with the required transformations
      • Understand and meet referential data integrity requirements
      • Document decisions made in meetings and alternative solutions discussed.

    Qualifications

      • Knowledge of data warehouse principles and methodologies: Kimbal, Inmon, Data Vault, Data Lake, etc
      • Knowledge and expertise of database modeling techniques: Star, Snowflake, 3NF etc
      • Knowledge of best practices in the database, ETL and/or BI technologies
      • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience on Data Vault 2.0 modelling techniques and architecture and delivering models for a few medium to large projects.
      • Embarcadero, Erwin data Modeler, Er/Studio or equivalent tool

       

       

      Preferred skills

      • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business or related fields
      • 2-5 years relational database experience in SQL Server 2008/2012/2016
      • 7-10 years as data modeler involved in mid- to large-scale system development projects
      • Exposure to all System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases, with experience directly contributing to design, development, validation, implementation, and operational support activities
      • Data analysis/profiling and reverse engineering of data
      • Experience in Data analysis and mapping, creation and usage of metadata
      • Experience in delivering solutions using Agile and Iterative methodology
      • Experience with metadata management discipline and practices
      • Experience in vendor teamwork and working with onshore and offshore partners
      • Experience with Banking/Financial industry is a big plus
