Overview

We are currently seeking a senior credit portfolio manager/leader. This position is responsible for leading the credit risk management, underwriting oversight, portfolio governance, and strategic management of a complex commercial loan portfolio. The position serves as a senior partner to Relationship Management, Credit Administration, and Executive Leadership, ensuring sound credit decisions, portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, and achievement of the Bank's growth and risk objectives. The SVP provides leadership in portfolio strategy, risk identification, credit structuring, and problem loan management while driving a strong credit culture across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for a commercial loan portfolio, ensuring strong credit quality, portfolio performance, and adherence to the Bank's risk appetite.
• Direct the underwriting, structuring, and approval recommendation process for new and existing credit relationships, including complex borrower situations and high-value transactions.
• Maintain overall accountability for portfolio credit quality, risk ratings, covenant compliance, concentrations, and portfolio trends.
• Lead proactive portfolio monitoring efforts to identify emerging risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and escalate concerns to senior management and credit leadership as appropriate.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on credit risk, deal structure, portfolio composition, industry trends, and market conditions.
• Partner with Relationship Managers and Business Banking leadership to achieve portfolio growth objectives while maintaining disciplined credit standards.
• Lead annual reviews, renewals, modifications, amendments, waivers, and complex credit actions across the portfolio.
• Present and defend credit recommendations before executive management, loan committees, and approval authorities, providing balanced assessments of risk and return.
• Drive resolution strategies for criticized, classified, and problem credits to minimize loss exposure and preserve client relationships where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with credit policy, regulatory requirements, and portfolio management standards while promoting a strong risk management culture.
• Lead and develop portfolio management staff through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
• Foster collaboration across Credit, Relationship Management, Treasury Management, Operations, and other lines of business to deliver comprehensive client solutions and achieve strategic objectives.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of commercial banking, corporate banking, credit risk management, or portfolio management experience, including significant leadership responsibility
• Demonstrated expertise in commercial credit underwriting, portfolio risk management, loan structuring, and problem credit resolution
• Deep understanding of credit policy, regulatory requirements, risk rating methodologies, and commercial lending practices
• Proven ability to balance growth objectives with prudent risk management and portfolio governance
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
• Executive-level communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $150,000.00/Yr. - USD $300,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
