Overview

East West Bank is currently seeking an Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Senior Data Analyst. The AML/CFT Senior Data Analyst will ensure local transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment, and list screening systems are functioning as designed. Further, this position will provide support for local data analytic and metric needs of the AML Officer and will coordinate closely with the Head Office data and analytics team to produce governance reporting and oversight for models/systems.

Responsibilities

  • Data Extraction & Wrangling: Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple sources (e.g., SQL databases, web analytics) to ensure accuracy and consistency for analysis.
  • Analysis & Modeling: Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies. Develop and maintain key datasets and models to support ongoing reporting.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards and reports (using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker) to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide stakeholders with a clear view of business health.
  • Insight Generation: Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A/B Testing & Experimentation: Support business teams in designing experiments, analyzing results, and providing statistically sound conclusions.

Qualifications

  • Data Science Degree, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a data analyst role or similar position.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio, or similar.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with spreadsheets (advanced Excel/Google Sheets functions, pivot tables).
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression, distributions).
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of NICE Actimize.
  • Experience with a programming language for data analysis (e.g., Python with Pandas, R).
  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data warehousing concepts
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, clustering,).
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. AAMLP / CAMLP) under the ECF on AML/CFT or CAMS certification is an advantage.
