Overview

The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for underwriting, credit monitoring and portfolio management for the Private Equity group’s clients in Asia, which is one of the largest and fastest-growing portfolios in the commercial bank.  This position will be based in Hong Kong SAR, China

Responsibilities

Credit Support & Analysis

  • Assist in underwriting fund finance products such as capital call lines, GP & management company loans and NAV/ Hybrid facilities.
  • Conduct financial statement reviews, fund-level cash flow analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Prepare credit memos and assist in loan documentation and approval processes

Portfolio Monitoring

  • Track loan performance, covenant compliance, and reporting deadlines.
  • Help manage renewals, amendments, and waivers under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with internal audits and regulatory reviews.

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Support Relationship Managers and senior team members in client communications and onboarding.
  • Participate in due diligence for new fund clients and assist with KYC and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with legal, credit, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions.

Market Research

  • Conduct market research on private capital trends, fund performance benchmarks, and macroeconomic factors affecting fund liquidity.
  • Analyze peer lending activity, pricing trends, and fund sponsor behavior to support deal structuring and client strategy.
  • Stay informed on developments in private equity & venture capital markets to anticipate client needs and risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in banking, credit analysis, or fund finance.
  • Familiarity with fund structures (LP/GP), subscription lines, and basic lending principles.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with Moody’s or similar credit tools is a plus.
  • Fluent in spoken and written in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is essential
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
