Overview

The Senior Credit Supervisor (FIG & C&I) reports to the Deputy Chief Credit Officer (DCCO) and is integral to the execution of the Bank’s overall credit process. The SCS supervises the credit review and approval process for the Financial Institutions Group portfolio—including specialty finance companies, non-bank lenders, broker-dealers, fintechs, and other regulated or quasi-regulated entities—while also supporting general Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credits.

This individual ensures a balance between prudent credit risk management and the Bank’s growth goals. Strong leadership and people management skills are required—especially the ability to work across different business units as an effective player/coach. A strong executive presence, excellent presentation skills, and a collaborative approach are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Credit Oversight
    • Supervise credit policies, procedures, and approvals for FIG and C&I transactions.
    • Ensure underwriting standards and portfolio management practices align with regulatory expectations and the Bank’s risk appetite.
    • Review and approve Concept Memos, Term Sheets, Credit Reports, and Credit Memorandums with fast turnaround.
  • Portfolio Management & Risk
    • Oversee monitoring of FIG and C&I portfolios, including delinquencies, past-due maturities, top borrower exposures, and upcoming renewals.
    • Review quarterly PLRs (Special Mention and Substandard loans) and recommend actions to mitigate risk.
    • Provide guidance on risk ratings, including triggers for upgrades and downgrades.
    • Proactively identify problem loans, coach Relationship Managers, and design action plans to retain or exit clients.
    • Make timely recommendations for transfers to the Special Situations Group where appropriate.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Supervise and mentor credit analysts and associates, fostering strong technical and analytical skills.
    • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Product Partners, and other Credit Supervisors to support client growth while ensuring sound risk management.
    • Make joint external calls with RMs to win new FIG and C&I business and strengthen client relationships.
  • Policy & Regulatory Compliance
    • Assist in updating loan policies, programs, and procedural memos.
    • Appropriately respond to collateral exam issues, offering constructive advice, remedies, and solutions.
    • Ensure adherence to BSA/AML/OFAC and all applicable banking regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
  • 12–15+ years of progressive credit risk experience, including specific experience in Financial Institutions (specialty finance, broker-dealers, mortgage originators/servicers, fintech, insurance premium finance, etc.) and general C&I lending.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and analyze complex credit facilities across FIG and C&I sectors.
  • Strong credit analytical skills, including cash flow modeling, collateral evaluation, and capital structure analysis.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to FIG clients and commercial lending.
  • Proven track record of balancing credit risk with commercial objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and present to senior management.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High personal credibility, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $140,000.00/Yr. - USD $220,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
