Overview

East West Bank is currently accepting resumes for a Credit Analyst role on the Texas Commercial Banking team to support the C&I lending team. Generally, this role is responsible for client financial/credit monitoring, financial spreading, covenant monitoring, financial analysis, underwriting and portfolio management of commercial banking relationships. The position will work closely with relationship managers, underwriters, portfolio managers, prospects and clients. Primary performance responsibilities include analyzing financial data to determine the merits of new lending opportunities, writing opportunity memos, assisting with preparation of loan packages, and monitoring client performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial analysis, financials spreading/monitoring, covenant compliance review/monitoring, industry research and risk analysis.
  • Significant portion of responsibility is analysis of new lending opportunities in well written opportunity memos, that are reviewed by business unit management and credit department management, seeking approval to proceed into full comprehensive underwriting.
    • Analyze prospect/borrower/guarantor credit worthiness.
    • Review and analyze economic and market impact on borrowers and prospects.
    • Review and analyze historical and projected financials, cash flow, sources of repayment and collateral.
    • Identify prospect and borrower risks and how to mitigate risks, if possible.
  • Partner with the relationship managers, underwriters, portfolio managers and fellow credit analysts to learn about prospecting, selling/pitching bank products, structuring loans, building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with EWB credit policy, procedures, lending strategy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other administrative duties required for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients.
  • Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the region's marketplace.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of banking/business industry and economic trends by gathering and analyzing relevant data from diverse sources—including borrower/prospect conversations, market publications, peer bank references, credit agencies, and online research.
  • Assist the relationship managers, underwriters and portfolio managers with quarterly monitoring reports and other projects/requests.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
  • Participates in client/prospect calls when requested (may require travel at times).
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Past bank or finance internships are preferrable that include experience in financial, credit, or statistical analysis.
  • Less than one year of experience.
  • Good understanding of generally accepted accounting and finance principles.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, management or a related field.
  • In office full-time from 8am – 5pm each business day with ability and willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends depending on client and team needs.
  • Strong interest in banking, analytical work, selling, and networking.
  • Jovial personality that demonstrates integrity, creativity, respect, fairness and professionalism.
  • Strong communication verbal and written skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Detail oriented, intellectually curious, well organized, manages time well, has good problem-solving skills, and someone that is accountable for their actions.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $25.00/Hr. - USD $35.00/Hr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
