Overview

This leadership position will be responsible for underwriting, credit monitoring and portfolio management of a portfolio of charter school clients where the repayment of loans is based on East West Bank’s charter school lender policies and best practices. As the program scales, this position will have direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Build out and systematize the PM process for the charter school program including covenant tracking and testing and school data collection (such as attendance)
  • Assist in formalizing underwriting practices and policies for the charter school program; tracking and evaluating polices and helping make adjustments when needed to improve the program
  • Monitor ongoing credit/covenant compliance and be responsible for proactive credit review of the portfolio
  • Review, analyze and/or create loan memorandums to support the credit analysis for new loans and modifications.
  • Take the lead in managing the renewal process by working with the Relationship Manager, the client and the credit department including upsizes/amendments/waivers
  • Ensure compliance with EWB regulatory and credit requirements
  • Support RM is developing problem loan credit solutions
  • Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship follows established EWB credit policy, procedures, and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines
  • Review legal documentation for accuracy and compliance with approval requirements
  • Perform other administrative duties required for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients
  • Maintain knowledge of charter school market conditions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated history of UW/PM systems development and management
  • Demonstrated understanding of the legal aspects of a charter school financing including diligence, documentation and collateral management (e.g. UCC searches/filings etc.)
  • Ability to work with clients directly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of credit and portfolio management in the charter school space
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required; MBA preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in structured finance/securitization.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $100,000.00/Yr. - USD $170,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
