Overview

The Mortgage Credit Review Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of mortgage loan files with a focus on collateral valuation, and regulatory compliance. This role includes reviewing appraisal reports for accuracy and consistency with lending guidelines and preparing adverse action notices when a loan does not meet credit or collateral requirements. The specialist works closely with underwriters, loan officers, and compliance teams to ensure high-quality credit decisions and adherence to lending policies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and validate appraisal reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and bank guidelines to minimize collateral risk
  • Handle Reconsideration of Value (ROV) requests and act as the liaison between borrower and Appraiser/AMC to ensure ROV requests are documented, tracked and communicated appropriately and timely
  • Identify deficiencies or risk concerns in collateral or borrower credit profile
  • Prepare and issue denial (adverse action) letters in compliance with applicable Regulations
  • Document findings and provide feedback to underwriting or processing teams asneeded
  • Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, internal policies, and industry bestpractices
  • Assist in internal audits or quality control reviews as required
  • Participate in other departmental assignments or projects as deemed necessary

Qualifications

  • 2+years of experience in mortgage underwriting, credit review, or appraisal review
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, appraisal standards, and credit analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills
  • Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System and appraisal review application preferred

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $69,000.00/Yr. - USD $90,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
