Overview

East West Bank is seeking a Project Finance Relationship Manager/Credit Manager role in our Western Region. This is a senior position which develops relationships with sponsors of renewable energy, gas fired, and infrastructure projects in the middle market. Responsibilities will include origination of senior debt financings of project finance transactions, execute, and close the transactions. In addition, the RM will cross sell products offered by East West Bank including GTS, Interest Rate/FX Swaps and Trade Finance. In cooperation with the NY team monitoring and managing the risk of the loan portfolio to maintain strong credit performance. Identify new markets to continue to grow business.

Additionally, this candidate will also have a dual role as a coach, responsible for underwriting, credit monitoring and portfolio management of Specialized Lending relationships, as well as managing and coaching a team of Portfolio Managers for analyzing asset-based, recurring revenue, cross-border lending, and cashflow loans to determine the merits of loan requests, recommending structure, and identifying cross selling/referring opportunities of other services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with Project Finance sponsors in the West Coast region of the US
  • Originate senior debt financings of renewable energy, gas fired and infrastructure project finance transactions.
  • Cross sell products offered by East West Bank including GTS, Interest Rate/FX Swaps and Trade Finance
  • Manage the risk of the loan portfolio to maintain strong credit performance
  • Identify new markets to continue to grow with a focus in depository relationships
  • Utilizes a high degree of creativity and independence in developing and managing a portfolio of diverse and complex banking relationships with Project Finance sponsors
  • Responsible for attaining established individual, department, and Bank financial goals.
  • Coordinate the entire business origination, closing and client servicing to meet bank’s excellence of service standards.
  • Develop relationships with Center of Influence in the industry and other business referral sources in order to locate credit worthy prospects for loans and deposits.
  • Leading a team of Portfolio Managers to assist Relationship Managers in underwriting and managing of the Specialized Lending portfolio.
  • Reviewing and managing a broad array of different asset classes including but not limited to asset-based, recurring revenue, and cashflow loans.
  • Ability to evaluate numerous transaction types and conducting analysis of the collateral, originator, servicer and developing/analysis of cash flow modeling.
  • Structuring senior secured revolving and term loans according to the Bank’s established guidelines and policies.
  • Leading or overseeing the legal documentation for complex loans.
  • Primary loan portfolio point of contact with Loan Supervision and Internal Audit.
  • Ongoing monitoring of credit and covenant compliance.
  • Manage the renewal process by working with the Relationship Manager, the client and the credit department including increase/amendment/waiver.
  • Partner with the Relationship Manager as the point of contact for the client; acting as a liaison to the Credit Department, the Commercial support staff and other internal business partners.
  • Assist in monitoring risk rating loans/credits.
  • Develop problem loan credit solutions.
  • As appropriate with experience, assist in the development of junior bankers, credit analysts, and relationship associates.
  • Perform other administrative duties required for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of middle market project finance banking experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent work experience
  • Proven sales track record with client relationships that are transferable to the Project Finance business at East West Bank
  • Strong credit underwriting experience through on the job experience or from formal bank credit training program
  • Strong knowledge in FX/ Interest Rate Swaps, Trade Finance and Treasury Products
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication
  • Leading a team of Portfolio Managers to assist Relationship Managers in underwriting and managing of the Specialized Lending portfolio.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $80,000.00/Yr. - USD $150,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
