Overview

East West Bank is seeking a Risk & Control Analyst, to help support the Compliance function within the Credit Card Team. The Risk & Control Analyst will assist the Senior Analyst, with credit card policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and mitigate credit and fraud risk to the Bank.  The Risk & Control Analyst is responsible for maintaining the QA/QC program including the written procedures and performs QA/QC processes including the testing of new products and features.  The Risk & Control Analyst will collect and analyze data wherever it resides, including in spreadsheets, files, and databases.  The Risk & Control Analyst will create reports as needed to complete QA/QC and various management reporting such as program or campaign management.  As a highly visible member of Credit Card Operations the employee must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management within the Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Work in tandem with the Risk Manager and Senior Risk & Control Analyst assigned to Credit Card Operations, to ensure adherence to applicable regulations, bank policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Verify risk & control standards are being met, by performing required self-assessment and control testing of systems and processes for the credit card program and products.
  • Define new data collection and analysis processes as needed.
  • Create reports, processes and tools to monitor key risk indicators for the business unit.
  • Interpret and analyze results from data extractions to identify patterns and trends.
  • Report findings to management and participate in defining the required remediation efforts to resolve any gaps.
  • Develop and continuously refresh an expert level understanding of FRB, CFPB and applicable regulations pertaining to consumer lending; maintain and recommend changes/enhancements to policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance, risk mitigation and operational excellence.
  • Act as a key contributor to define and maintain an effective risk and quality control program for credit card. Monitor organizational and industry changes that might impact the risk assessment.
  • Work with Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, BSA/AML to ensure risk assessment align with overall bank strategies.
  • Assist other consumer lending units, such as SBA, in building out QA/QC program and performing QA/QC reviews as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, document and implement effective risk and control processes.
  • Practiced knowledge of regulatory environment in the banking industry highly desirable.
  • Experience applying quantitative, analytical, process oriented and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel including pivot tables; exposure to SQL highly desirable.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven to identify areas of improvement.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $20.00/Hr. - USD $30.00/Hr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
