Overview

The Second Line of Defense Operational Risk Manager will be responsible for credible challenge review, analytics reporting and support in the buildout of the firmwide Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program. The Risk Manager will be responsible for working within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team and partner with the first line of defense risk managers/control testers to conduct consistent and effective review of RCSAs across the organization, testing results of control design and effectiveness, and provide the reporting, tracking of results and help identify remediation plans accordingly.

 

This role will require an individual to familiarize with the Bank’s policies, guidelines and practices with a strong focus on the review of the execution and implementation of a sound first and second line testing and risk management program.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the review of the first and second line of defense testing control results to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of the identified key risks and controls.
  • Support the program enhancements and execution of the RCSA control testing framework and methodologies.
  • Support the quality assessments of RCSAs completed by First and Second Line managers and making recommendations as needed.
  • Review detailed RCSAs, control testing documentation and commentary, including observations and issues management.
  • Manage and coordinate all risk activities to ensure material/key risks are identified, escalated, managed, tracked and remediated timely.
  • Analyze, aggregate and articulate the results/issues/recommendations related to control testing activities to senior risk management.
  • Assist with the validation and closure of risks/control issues as identified through testing results.
  • Provide day-to-day management, oversight and the longer-term development planning of the Operational Risk Management team, with primary focus on the RCSA program.

Qualifications

  • Experience with risk and control identification, designing, planning, review/implementation of the testing of RCSAs and effectively managing a testing/audit/RCSA program.
  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, products and services; experience with risks and controls/control gap identification related to Operations, Consumer and/or Commercial Banking/Lending, Bank Operations Support and Corporate Functions (such as Third-Party Risk Management, New Products & Services, Issues Management, Business Continuity, Fraud Program, etc.). Compliance, including AML/BSA, Wires/Payment Operations, Cross-Border Banking and Digital Banking is a big plus.
  • Experience with Issues Management identification, review/development of key management action plans, remediation actions and sustainability review are a plus.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong influential skills.
  • Experience working withing a dynamic environment to execute on an evolving second line of defense risk management program, including the identification, communication, reporting, escalation and validation of RCSA test results and remediation efforts.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards, practices and expectations for regional/large banks.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and presentation skills.
  • A strong working knowledge of MS Office Software Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Access and Visio)
  • Knowledge of and understanding of federal and state laws applicable to EWB.
  • Professional/ Industry Accredited Risk Management certification (e.g., CIA, PRM, CRMP) is a big plus.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $135,000.00/Yr. - USD $165,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
