Overview

East West Bank is seeking a Product Risk Manager. The Product Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Bank’s New Products and Services program by maintaining the New Products and Services (NPS) Policy, facilitating activities such as credible challenge meetings, NPSC meetings, NPS training, and supporting governance documents and reporting to the NPSC.  Additionally, the Product Risk Officer is responsible for identifying and addressing risks related to products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying the completion of the New Products Risk Assessment (e.g. ensuring all applicable fields are completed by the appropriate stakeholders).
  • Updating the New Products and Services Policy and related risk assessment procedures and forms such that it supports the overall enterprise risk management framework and policy.
  • Monitoring new regulatory guidance regarding New Product risk management that potentially may affect the Bank.
  • Initiating the post-mortem review process within the time frame stated in NPS Policy for the New Product Sponsors to complete.
  • Verifying that all applicable documentation is completed prior to presentation to the New Products and Services Committee.
  • Engage with Business Unit Leaders and other Stakeholders to review products’ performance metrics.
  • Establish and maintain a clear products and services inventory list including 2LOD credible challenges.
  • Establish change management process on updating product risk assessment template to align with ERM risk taxonomy changes and risk management program methodology / definition changes.
  • Implementation ongoing monitoring requirements for the product management lifecycle across new and modified products.
  • Establish method and develop aggregated view of all product risk assessments to support the annual risk profile and reporting to the Bank.
  • Establish clear process and methodology to assess volume and profitability for each product currently being reported.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management, product management, or a related field, with a focus on identifying and mitigating product-related risks
  • Experience in product development and governance in regulated industry (e.g., financial services)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing product risk in a complex environment
  • Previous experience in compliance, regulatory oversight, or internal auditing is a plus
  • Familiarity with business continuity planning, crisis management, and product lifecycle risk management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Manage correspondence with all levels of Bank staff including Senior and Executive management
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to manage risks both at the micro and macro levels
  • An innate ability to identify issues and work them to closure, including remediation and escalation where appropriate
  • Effectively respond to shifting priorities and assignments
  • A commitment to protect the bank from all risk exposure
  • Discretion and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issues
  • Able to meet deadlines and expectations with little or no supervision
  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $120,000.00/Yr. - USD $180,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
