Overview

East West Bank is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team.  This role completes bi-weekly payroll processing by entering, researching and validating compensation and benefit related transactions. Reviews new hire and termination documents to ensure consistency of practices. Maintains employee records and responds to inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures payroll is processed with speed and accuracy and is achieved on time.
  • Serves as liaison to employees and with third party payroll vendors to ensure payroll processing accurately reflects company specific pay policies.
  • Audits employee pay records and reconciles totals by department, location, country, etc.
  • Coordinates third party payroll system (UKG formerly Ultimate Software) implementations and upgrades.
  • Interprets pay policies (e.g., PTO, LOA, disability, workers compensation, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly.
  • Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements; stays current with changes in the law.
  • May assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation.
  • Documents payroll processes and procedures.
  • May back up those who perform specialized tasks or activities such as stock option exercises, SEC document filing, or sales commission calculation reviews.
  • Acts as team member within Finance and HR, and highly collaborative across a distributed workforce.
  • Possesses a deep expertise and passion for payroll processing, especially in the UKG formerly UltiPro Software environment, and for US payroll in multiple States, including but not limited to Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and California.
  • Demonstrate experience and expertise in methodical process thinking, working in a public company with SOX/ISO compliance environments, and proven ability to scale and improve processes in a growth environment.
  • Ability to hold rigor in process, while at the same time, remaining approachable to the business needs and conditions.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, Ultipro/UKG preferred
  • Experience in multi-state payroll processing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of MS Office Programs and mastery level Excel skills

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $26.00/Hr. - USD $32.00/Hr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
